History Paper Samples

The majority of students are scared to death when they’re assigned with the task to write art history papers, military history projects, gender history assignments or even the history of paper airplanes. They’re provided with a long list of rules they’re required to follow, difficult topics they need to unveil, and, as a rule, they just put off the task until the very last minute. As a result, they realize how little time is left to complete a paper, they begin to panic.

It is recommended to make up a solid plan before you get involved into the writing process. Make an outline if you really need it. The point is that some people generate outstanding content without any outlining and their papers are more hooking and “alive”.

Choose a paper topic. You can make use of sample history research paper available on the web as an example for your own writing, but remember, sample history research paper can be accomplished by an amateur or a student just like you. But have no fear, for the reason that you can find inspiration practically everywhere! The most exciting thing about writing academic paper in history is that this area includes EVERYTHING! For example, Titanic is on in a 3D format. You may find this movie quite exciting. Then you suddenly realize that Titanic is an outstanding topic.

Maybe you do no want to write on a ship, so you think about Titanic just for a few minutes. It was a huge tragedy in a history of marine engineering. History is full of tragedies that are a good reading. Perhaps you won’t be interested in Titanic history, so search for the other tragedies that will be a pretty touching topic for your tutor/group mates.

Think about a firm thesis statement. The topic of a history paper has to be sold. A project about history tragedies would require a thesis statement that will frame the project. Your thesis statement may look like: “By knowing all the tragedies and its consequences in the past, we can better understand how to never repeat them.” Linking research paper with the present days will always work when making attempts to hook a target audience.

Don’t forget about thorough research on the topic. Never make use of Google/Wikipedia as a source for history research paper. Remember, art history papers, social history, environmental history or cultural history project should have a firm basis. Reading information related to your topic will help you to make clear the historical events importance, and importance of when things happened and who was involved in them. Jot down the quotes, facts, events you find interesting, but make sure to note what book/journal/author this or that quote belongs to!

We have realized that most of our students do not carry out surveys while writing their research proposal essays. Most of the research proposal topics we received last year were immaterial to the course. We also noted that a few students managed to lift research proposal essays from online books. This year, we have decided to allocate students the research proposal topics to avoid cases of lifting essays. We have extraordinary software that tests all the research proposal essays and highlight all the lifted parts of the research proposal essay.

The research proposal topics will be allocated on the basis of the specialization of the students. Students specializing in finance, risk insurance, marketing, human resource management and economics will be assigned different research proposal topics.  This round we hope students will not hand in lifted research proposal essays since we shall have them presenting their essays as they progress with writing research papers. We have advised the course instructors to shift each research proposal topic chosen by the student to make them find it difficult to submit previous research proposals.

At the end of the semester, all students will defend their research proposal essays by proving why they chose the topics and furnishing the panel with any problems they encountered while working on the research proposal essay. The panel will also cross examine the research proposal and therefore students should better undertake their own surveys.  Other measures to ensure students comply with this are being formulated. Research proposal papers handed in should be high class since the college administration intents to sell them to corporations in essay writing services.

Many students find it really very annoying when they given the task of writing their college paper. But no matter how much pain it gives, college papers have to be written and that too, in a way which is acceptable to your teacher or professor. After all, they play a very important role in presenting your whole semester’s hard work.

Things get more complicated if you are asked to write an art history paper. Art history paper topics could cover areas in iconology, iconography, sociological essays, formal analysis, or biographical essay. No matter what your topic is about, there are some basic tips all art history students must keep in mind.

Choose the topic you love or are emotionally attached to. Sneak into relevant books for better ideas. Always keep a notebook with you and write down each and every thought that crosses your mind. Make sure you are overflowing with information before you begin writing your paper. Browse through websites and collect information from different books. Remember, every piece of information is useful. Always keep a habit of reading things related to your subject.

Once you have sufficient information, it is time for you to understand the art history paper format. Your introduction should have a thesis statement. Write what art work you have noticed and mention all relevant dates and names. Bring all important fact into your reader’s notice. Explain everything well. Compare your chosen subject with other related things of that kind. In the last part that is the conclusion, summarize all above explanations briefly and if it looks appropriate, give your opinion as well. Make sure you have given full information. Write names of artwork etc in italics.

Start working as early as possible; it’s better if you begin your research right after your mid terms so that you have enough time to edit. Revise your paper several times before you submit. And never wait for the last minute.

History research papers are quite common among students who take history course at college or university. European history research papers, as a rule, include such aspects as imperialism, secularization, political reform, nationalism, revolution, foreign treaties and policies, industrialization, immigration, modern art forms development and changing labour patterns. There are loads of topics that, while their roots many be in earlier periods, occurred mainly in the XXth century, all of which are really fascinating topics for research papers.

Have you ever thought about writing history papers about Don Corleone? Surely, you may take it as a joke, but making history paper outline for the project about Italian mafia is quite enjoyable!

In August 2010, some arsonists set fire to the Sicily Mafia Museum. In 2011, it turned out that the art director of the museum in Naples received threats from someone about an exhibit about local organization of mafia and after that he sought political asylum in Germany. Although nowadays mafia is no longer powerful in Italy, someone still defends its reputation. The first traces of Italian mafia were originally found in 1865 when Italian Unification and family rivalries system flourished.

  • The History of Gulag: Soviet Labour Camps Horrors

Labour camps appeared in Russia in the early XII century but some time later they turned into a death machine leaded by Joseph Stalin. All the people who were imprisoned in the gulags were murderers, criminals, political prisoners and innocent people who were taken to prison because of paranoid police for crimes (for instance, some person could be imprisoned only for being late to work). All the prisoners of the gulags (men and women) were sentenced for many years and it is important to mention that there was a high death rate in the camps. Although after Stalin’s death these camps were reduced in number, some of them operated till 1980.

Korea has many distinct features which make it one of the most unique places to visit in the world. Ranging from the traditional and cultural forms of entertainment to the more relaxing scenic Autumn walks puts Korea in as a definite destination for any tourist willing to experience the true wonders of the art of history and nature. Of the four seasons which are so different and contrasting each in their own way, nothing can outshine the great splendour of leaves turning red and yellow:- making Autumn the best and most colourful time of the year for visits for many Australian tourists. Winter can be described as one of the most picturesque times in Korea, with snow draping the roofs but the weather is extremely cold and dry with temperatures frequently reaching below zero degrees Celsius. During Spring the temperatures become milder and flowers start to bloom, but in stark contrast Summer is not particularly a great time for visits with humidity levels reaching up to 70% and receiving the vast majority of the nation’s annual rainfall.

From Sydney the one single trip to Korea takes approximately ten hours. However although these ten long hours may seem boring and tiring at the time, you will be rid of any negative thoughts upon arrival and seeing the colour and beauty of the lively city domain. Not only that, but there are also interesting aspects of Korean history which unveils itself as you delve deeper and deeper into its profound extremes. Korean history dates back to more than five thousand years and Seoul, the city central of Korea, originates from the Chosun Dynasty from about six hundred years ago. Upon arrival at Inchon airport it would take you just one hour to reach Seoul, the heart of Korea, which was once the home of numerous rulers of the many kingdoms. It is beyond doubt that every step you take will lead you into a significant landmark and every sight you see will draw your attention, sometimes stirring up impressive thoughts and at other times inducing feelings of jealousy at the differences that exist between the quality of life then and now.

There are five representative ancient royal palaces in Seoul which heighten its cultural aspects:- Kyungbok Palace, ChangKyung Palace, Changduk Palace, Duksu Palace and Jongmyo Royal Shrine. Of the five listed above, Changduk Palace and Jongmyo Royal Shrine has been designated a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO. Now let’s firstly enter Kyuungbok Palace, the construction of which was begun by Yi, the founder of the Chosun Dynasty in 1395. This palace served both as a residence for the royal family as well as the seat of the government until 1592 when it was destroyed by the great fire during the Hideyoshi invasions. For 273 years it lay in ruins until restoration took place in 1865. The Korean kings received guests at the throne hall known as Kunjongjon which encompasses all the character and style of the 16th century. Kunjongjon is a stone building which was architecturally designed to meet the majestic and dignified nature of the king’s status and reputation. It is a spacious two-storey building with dragon paintings on its high ceilings to symbolise the power of the king. However the most striking feature of the Kunjongjon is the vibrant and most stylish patterns engraved on the outer wall pillars. These patterns are characteristic of the unique beauty of Korea but the true splendour of the Kunjongjon’s architectural design originates from its curved roofs. (more…)

Augustus may have been the most important figure in Roman history. Through his long life (63 BC – AD 14) and his deeds, the failing Republic was converted to an Empire that endured for centuries.

After the great dictator Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 BC, there was a struggle for power among the second triumvirate. Through the struggle, Octavian, Julius Caesar’s grand nephew, would come out on top and establish himself as the ruler of Rome. He became a different leader than his uncle in that he did not take the name of emperor or king but as simply the first citizen. Octavian came to the name Augustus Caesar in 27 BC meaning “revered one”. He became one, if not the greatest, leader as he helped the Republic overcome civil war and turmoil and established a new Roman peace known as Pax Roman. Thus for over 200 years, the empire was not damaged by wars and grew to know prosperity and growth.

Pax Roman was achieved by the institution of a number of reforms. The empire’s economy prospered, through farming, manufacturing, and trade, and the Roman Army was strong enough to defend the frontier. First, Augustus brought the military under control. The number of troops was reduced and a fixed rate of pay was established in terms of service. He began to launch a series of military conquests that expanded the empire’s frontiers. When the empire reached its greatest size, Augustus had the troops serve to defend the current boundaries, and not conquer new areas. At the time of Augustus’ death, there was an estimated 250,000 to 300,000 soldiers that guarded the empire.

The war for independence in this country’s most important war was not a strategically outstanding war or one filled with military’s greatest minds. But one full of supplies shortage and troops turn over as the militias on the states ended their short-term enlistment. In the other hand the British army was coming from a line of victories and it’s navy that was soon to have a big defeat against Napoleon.

The Americans won the war for Independence for three reasons:

The first factor was the steadfastness of Washington. However he was not a brilliant strategist and made a number of imperative mistakes, he was a man great integrity who refused to give up.

The second factor in the American victory was the British failure to press their advantages. During the war, the British generals, especially Howe, showed little inclination to wipe out the feeble American army, as they could have done on a number of occasions. The British generals did not seem to be taking the war seriously.

Finally, the Americans could not have won without help of the French, especially of the French fleet. While the French admirals spent most of their time pursuing regarding the West Indies, at the crucial point, where their help was absolutely necessary, the French ships stood off the coast of Virginia and prevented Cornwallis’ escape.

In the war between the American Colonies and the British, the Americans were fighting to keep they traditional way of government, and their independence made little changes in values and way of life.

The Americans fought for their independence against a British government, which had turn into more and more despotic. The Americans had a right to defend their traditions against British aggression.

One of the great travesties in the study of American history is the lack of credit given to the accomplishments of African Americans. In times of war while the United States was becoming an empire, roles of African Americans were overlooked. There is no greater example than that of the Spanish American War. African American soldiers played a remarkable role in this war, and all too often their role has been disregarded and passed over by authors of the subject. Evidently, these authors were almost all white. Only with research from African American authors and historically accurate descriptions from the soldiers themselves, can one find the true nature of the role that African Americans played in the Spanish American War.

In 1898 the United States was in a moral dilemma, considering whether to aid Cuba in its fight for independence from Spain. When the United States joined the fight and turned the Cuban fight for independence into the Spanish American War, the debate continued to linger among the American people. One group that had heavily conflicting views was the African Americans. There were several reasons why this group opposed the war effort. “They consistently argued that charity begins at home, or at least it ought to.” African Americans were having enough problems in their own country, with the emergence of the Jim Crow laws, as well as lynching and abundant racism. These anti-imperialists envisioned a war that would only extend a racist empire, leaving the colored people of the Spanish colonies in the same oppressed shape as they were in, or maybe worse. They refused to support something they thought they would regret.

Alexander the Great was one of the greatest conquers in all of the history of
Rome. His genius and ability to think in hard situations helped greatly to the country of
Macedonia, which he ruled. Most of his life he lived as a fighter and warrior. Alexander
was a smart, brilliant man who used his brains when it came down to fighting.
Alexander was born in an age of violence, conquest, and civil war. Alexander
was born in 356 B.C. in Pella. His father was Phillip the second who ruled all of
Macedonia. He was a shrewd king and general who conquered Greece. He stole the
reign of Macedonia from his brother’s son. Alexander’s mother was Olympias. She was
brilliant yet hot-tempered. Her father was King Neoptoelemus the first of Epirus.
Alexander’s sister was Cleopatra (but not the Egyptian queen.) Alexander’s ancestor was a man known as the hero Achilles. Alexander through his life carried a copy of “Iliad.” Phillip taught Alexander that all the Macedonian kings were descendents from the hero Hercules, son of Zeus, and the high god.
Alexander’s parents hated each other. Philip had lesser wives and children. One
child was Philip Arridaeus who was retarded. The rumor was that Olympias had
poisoned the mother of Arridaeus. Olympias once told Alexander that Philip was not his
real father. Philip never admitted to it though. Yet he always had made fun of Alexander
because of his high voice.
